Stephen O’Neil, DO

Dr. Stephen O’Neil is a fellowship trained orthopaedic sports medicine surgeon with OAM. He completed a fellowship in Orthopaedic Sports Medicine and Ski/Snowboard Trauma at the Taos Orthopaedic Institute. In fellowship, he served as physician for the US Ski team in Switzerland and Austria. Prior to that, he completed his Residency through University of Michigan – Metro Health Hospital, where he was elected Chief Resident. Dr. O’Neil’s special interests include sports-related trauma, arthroscopic treatment of shoulder and knee injuries, and reconstructive surgery of the shoulder and knee. He has additional work experience as a medical volunteer in El Salvador and rural Appalachia. He was also a backcountry backpacking guide and Search and Rescue team member in New Mexico, and a horse wrangler in Colorado and Wyoming. Dr. O’Neil’s care philosophy is “to build trust with patients by treating them as I would want to be treated.” Dr. O’Neil and his wife have two children; they enjoy spending as much time as possible in the outdoors hiking, skiing, camping and fishing.
