Courtney Schmidt, MD

Dr. Schmidt is a fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon, specializing in hand and upper extremity care.Dr. Schmidt completed her orthopedic surgery residency at Spectrum Health/Michigan State University
in Grand Rapids, Michigan. She completed her fellowship at the University of Alabama at Birmingham,
where she received advanced training in the diagnosis and treatment of conditions affecting the hand,
wrist, and elbow, including sports injuries, peripheral nerve conditions, arthritis, tendinitis and upper
extremity trauma

In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Schmidt is committed to medical education and mentorship. She
currently serves as a Clinical Instructor at the College of Human Medicine and a Clinical Assistant
Professor at the College of Osteopathic Medicine, both at Michigan State University. She also mentors
students through the Michigan State University Chapter of the Association of Women Surgeons .

Outside of her practice, Dr. Schmidt enjoys spending time with her husband and young children, hiking
with her dog, traveling, spending time outdoors or curled up with a good book. As a proud alumna of
Lowell High School and Hope College, she also enjoys raising her family in and providing care to the
community she grew up in.
