The staff of our Hand & Upper Extremity Center includes orthopedic surgeons, fellowship trained in surgeries of the hand, wrist, elbow, and shoulder, including microsurgery, joint replacement, and reconstruction. Our physicians are supported by an expert team of highly trained physical therapists, nurses, radiologists, and other key professionals working together to provide expert care for injuries, deformities, and diseases of the hand and upper extremities.

Prior to the Mary S. Stern fellowship, Dr. Burgess did his Orthopedic Surgery Residency Training at the University of North Carolina and served as Education Commitee member at the UNC Department of Orthopedics.
An avid water sports fan, Dr. Burgess participated in Men's Swimming at Hope College and was a water polo coach for Holland and Holland Christian High Schools. He also enjoys camping, biking, and reading. View Less

He specializes in hand, upper extremity and microsurgery and has lectured and written extensively on the subject of occupational injuries and the surgical management of carpal tunnel syndrome. He has special training and experience in endoscopic carpal tunnel release surgery and post traumatic reconstructive hand surgery.
