Update from Haiti: Patient census around 40. We have 11 surgeries planned for tomorrow (Thurs). Our colleagues from Indiana left for home today. That leaves only the Grand Rapids crew and three others from Oklahoma.
We were visited by members of the 82nd Airborne today. About 12-15 soldiers. Basically checking on our supplies, patients, any needs we may have etc. The were really impressive. I gave them a bunch of nutrition bars and some slim jims. We also just received a large shipment of coca-cola in glass bottles. I think they enjoyed that a lot.
Spirits remain high, both for us and the patients. Word continues to travel around about the great staff and facilities here at Double Harvest. We also received some additional supplies from PIH today which came in handy. I was able to have a Haitian Physician assist me in surgery today. He was so excited. We remain safe and over-fed still.
