Update to the OAM community

The interest from OAM staffer in volunteering in Haiti is amazing. I would like to get everyone more up to speed with what has transpired over the past 72 hrs. As all know Dr. Golladay is already in Haiti providing greatly needed services. We are certainly proud of his efforts. At home on the OAM side, a great deal of work has occurred to attempt to develop a coordinated response to a very chaotic situation. Multiple discussions have occurred with various entities to coordinate our efforts with their generosity.

First: Dr. Asperheim is developing a rotation over the next several weeks to nail down time frames and commitments from all those interest in from OAM in serving down in Haiti.

Second: Spectrum and multiple implant companies have donated supplies to assist in the effort. Delivery of these implants will likely require us carrying the stuff down, therefore a coordinated effort will be necessary as our needs become more apparent

Third: Anesthesia Medical Consultants (AMC) has freed up employees and resources os they can join us on our trip down to Port-au-Prince.

The overriding goal of this process is to design a coordinated persistent response. We are working with Partners In Health (PIH) to coordinate this on the Haiti side. Our hope is that this coordinated approach will lead to a greater ability deliver care and needed resources. This coordinated effort also allows us to leverage larger corporations for assistance with regard to supplies and travel.

West Michigan has always demonstrated a culture of generosity and caring. Orthopaedic Associates of Michigan hopes to follow in the foot steps of so many institutions in this community by providing our god given talents to those in so much need.  We would like to thank all those involved in this endeavor for their support and prayers. We will continue to keep all informed of our progress in the weeks to come.
